AKD PRESIDENT

Congratulations on being elected President of Alpha Kappa Delta, Sociology Honor Society! You will play an integral role in the organization's success here at UT. All officers work together and collaborate to conduct meetings and plan events but each officer has a unique role that ensures that members enjoy being a part of AKD. Here are some of the duties that you will be expected to perform as president:

  • Serve as the official representative of AKD within the organization and throughout activities on campus
  • Manage all affairs of AKD and work with the Vice President to ensure that all officers are efficiently serving in their positions; assign work to individual officers as necessary
  • Develop a strong working relationship with Academic Advisors Jackie Dana and Debbie Rothschild, who will be an invaluable asset to your service as president of AKD
  • Lead planning of events/meetings and attend all general body meetings
  • Coordinate with leaders of Sociology in Action
  • Become well-versed in AKD chapter information and logistics
  • Oversee e-mail correspondence between members and officers; the secretary should handle responding to member inquiries but the President should ensure that all member needs are being addressed
  • Consult with ALL officers and fill in ANY gaps in the organization

Best of luck serving as President of AKD! If you have any questions, feel free to contact your fellow officers or SOC advisor, Jackie Dana.
